Eyewear worn by Premier League players
With the new football season underway, some of the Premier League’s most celebrated players are back on the pitch ready to take their teams to new heights. Some are even sporting eyewear to assist with their performance.
Back in March, Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish - two players known for their fashionable eyewear choices - made headlines for their use of red-tinted glasses to promote good sleep. Here, we take a look at some of this season’s players who are making a statement with their eyewear.
Erling Haaland
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is no stranger to bold eyewear choices, having been spotted on several occasions in eye-catching Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. Now, he’s wearing Ra Optics’ blue light protection glasses, which are thought to help the body produce melatonin for better sleep. Jack Grealish and Anthony Elanga joined the trend too, claiming it aids their performance on the pitch.
Keira Walsh
In a similar move, Lionesses stars Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway and Ellie Roebuck have all been known to use ‘chrono’ glasses by Dutch company Propeaq to reduce the effects of jet lag. This eyewear has interchangeable lenses with blue and red filters, which the brand claims help the body to adjust to new time zones.
Jeremy Doku
Manchester City FC is certainly a hotspot for stylish eyewear. Haaland and Grealish’s team mate Jeremy Doku is another fashion-forward player, who has been spotted in shades by both Cartier and Prada. Favouring wraparound styles and classic aviators, his eyewear choices match his athletic lifestyle and laid-back look.
Bukayo Saka
Arsenal’s right winger Bukayo Saka is widely regarded as one of the world’s best players. His creativity and technical skill on the pitch are matched by his dynamic, edgy eyewear choices. Favouring rectangular and square styles with statement temples, he has been seen in sunglasses by Prada and Off-White.
Alessia Russo
Arsenal WFC and Lionesses forward Alessia Russo has been in a partnership with eyewear brand Oakley since June 2023. She has modelled a range of popular frames, including Kato, Sutro and Holbrook.
Diogo Dalot
Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot is known for his on-pitch agility and attacking runs, as well as for his refined, understated style off the field. He favours sleek, versatile pieces and a clean-cut aesthetic, which is complemented by his choice of eyewear from brands such as Balmain.
